Our Story

APT .RED exists because Gary Lane spent over 45 years in the electronic security industry and decided to build the kind of company he’d want to work for — and hire.
Gary’s career began with a small independent security integrator, where he learned the trade from the ground up. He spent the next 17 years with Johnson Controls, working at enterprise scale across complex, multi-system environments. That experience — the good parts and the parts that needed fixing — shaped every decision about how APT .RED would operate.
The company he built is focused on practical solutions, long-term customer relationships, responsive support, and deep expertise in enterprise access control, video surveillance, and integrated security systems. No layers of management between the customer and the people doing the work. No selling systems the team doesn’t fully understand. No handing off projects to subcontractors who weren’t part of the design.

The Name

The company name was inspired by Gary’s late wife, Colleen, who liked the word APT because it represented being more than capable — aptly suited and perfectly fit for the project at hand.
RED stands for Remembering Everyone Deployed — a reflection of respect and appreciation for those who serve.

What We Believe

APT .RED was founded around three principles. They aren’t aspirational statements on a poster — they’re how the company actually runs.

1. Employees come first.

People matter. APT .RED was created to provide a work environment where employees are respected, supported, and valued. We don’t subscribe to the idea that “the customer is always right.” We believe in doing what is fair, professional, and right — for both our customers and our team.
When employees are treated well, they do better work. When they do better work, customers get better outcomes. The math isn’t complicated.

2. Expertise matters.

Customers deserve true professionals. Everyone at APT .RED is trained, certified, and capable of supporting field operations when needed — including leadership and executive staff. We don’t sell systems we don’t fully understand. We don’t deploy technology we can’t support. And we don’t put people in front of customers who aren’t qualified to be there.

3. Our customer’s customer matters most.

We measure success by how easy we make life for the people who rely on the systems every day. Property managers, security directors, building engineers, tenants, and visitors — the people who badge in every morning, who depend on cameras working when something happens, who need the elevator to take them where they’re authorized to go.
We support not only our direct customers, but also the people they serve — helping them succeed in their roles through responsive service, practical solutions, and long-term partnership.

What We Do

APT .RED specializes in enterprise physical security integration — the design, deployment, and ongoing support of access control, video surveillance, and monitoring systems for commercial and institutional facilities.

Our work spans the full lifecycle: security architecture consulting, system design, hardware procurement, installation, programming, commissioning, and managed support through our Neolert platform. We are certified specialists in Software House C•CURE 9000 and partner with Milestone Systems and Bosch Security for video surveillance and AI-enabled analytics.

We are one of the few integrators in the country with proven native destination dispatch elevator integration experience — connecting C•CURE 9000 directly to Mitsubishi, Schindler PORT, and Otis Compass elevator systems without middleware or third-party adapters.
